Stevenage Arts Society

               Art and Community

Who We Are

We are focused on building relationships through learning, experience, and participation

Stevenage Arts Society (formerly known as Artists' Co-operative) is probably the most active amateur art society in the country with at least three exhibitions each year and working groups meeting on most days of the week. The society has its own gallery, pottery, workshop and private studios in its headquarters at Springfield House in Stevenage.

Artists' Co-operative was conceived by a group of Stevenage painters and born in 1968 with the stated aim of "Fostering the Arts in Stevenage". A totally amateur, non-political and democratic organization, the co-operative is run by an executive committee which is elected each year at the annual general meeting.
Membership of the society is open to anyone interested in participating in the fine arts and willing to abide by the society's rules and customs. An annual subscription of £30 is levied and anyone attending working group meetings is asked for a small fee of £2 at each attendance. Members are kept fully informed of the full programme of Events and Activities organised throughout the year.
