Summer Exhibition 2017
Stevenage Arts Society’s Winter Exhibition opens on Saturday 26th November at
24 High Street
Stevenage SG1 3ET
and will run until Saturday 5th August.

In the Exhibition is featured work by William Barnard. William a member who attends the society’s pottery
Born in Stevenage in 1955 and always having the ability to draw. He attended night classes in the early 1980s at North Herts College under master potter Bob Crossley along side renowned ceramicist Abdo Nagi. Then after being made redundant by British Railways in 1993 he won a scholarship from Hertfordshire County Council to attend the City & Guilds of London Art School where he studied Fine Art (sculpture) between 1993 - 96. Becoming Visual Arts Co-ordinator in 2000 at Stevenage Leisure Centres, Gordon Graig Theatre where he ran that establishments Boxfield Gallery with a full range of 10 exhibitions per year, also the facilities arts studios and courses. While in this position he set up and ran the Boxfield/Stevenage Community Trust Prize for Excellence in Art. A competition for year 10 students studying within the SG1/2 areas with a top prize of £250. This ran annually for seven years until funds were withdrawn by the Council. Then being a tutor at North Herts College until 2014. He is presently at Bedfordshire Universty where he is studying Graphic Design. Now entering his third year of study he is hoping to major in printmaking and typography.
William commented ‘The society has a busy year with 3 exhibitions at the society’s on site galleries. Also with members works are displayed at venues around town such on the Glaxo Smith Kline and Doctors surgeries. It’s a very good way for any artist professional or amateur to showcase their work to a wider audience, and all are welcome to join the society.

Wednesday mornings and evenings
Monday and Tuesday afternoons
Tuesday to Friday mornings.
Springfield House is a Community Centre in Stevenage Old Town.
