We have an Art Studio upstairs in Springfield House which is for use by members of the Society. This room is laid out with tables and chairs and there is an easel if anyone wants to use it. We also have a library with binders of photographs to inspire artists when they need help with ideas and plenty of back issues of various artist magazines.
The Studio is in regular use during the week when members get together for informal painting/drawing sessions. Artists bring their own materials to use during these sessions. Any member of the Society can join one of these groups for a fee of £2 per session. Tea, coffee, mugs (and sometimes even biscuits) are available.
Art Studio groups:
Tuesday 7.30pm - 9.30pm
Wednesday 7.30pm - 9.30pm
Art novices, beginners and those with a bit of experience, are welcome to come along; you will be made welcome and we are happy to give advice and encouragement. Please bring your own materials although we can loan you a palette of watercolour paints, brushes and paper if needed.
Prospective members, who would like to 'try-before-you-buy', can attend up to 4 sessions on payment of the £2 charge each time. Any session (Art, Pottery or Glass Fusing) can be attended on this basis, so you can try our various activities before you decide if you like us and want to become a full member of the Society (£30pa). If you wish to come to a session please email us to arrange a visit. We will make you welcome.
Sadly we are unable to teach formal art classes but members at the weekly sessions are always happy to help and advise where needed.
Outside these sessions, any member of the Society can use the Art Studio for their own art purposes on payment of the £2 fee.
