In October 2022 the Society decided to spread its wings and started to run monthly Glass Fusing workshops in the Pottery. Two of our Society members, Anne and Noelle devise, set up and run the workshops. They are both experienced at organising and running training sessions. These Workshops are suitable for beginners as well as people with experience.
The Workshops are held on a Saturday and Sunday each month with a choice of morning of afternoon sessions. There are a maximum of 6 participants, due to the size of the Pottery, and this encourages a friendly atmosphere. We ran a full year of workshops in 2023 which were very popular, and many participants returned regularly to attend more workshops and have since joined the Society.
What to expect and how much does it cost?
The Workshops are held on Saturdays once a month (or more if there is demand) between 9.30am – 12noon and 1pm – 3.30pm. They are held in the Society’s Pottery in the garden behind Springfield House in Stevenage Old Town.
We charge £25 for each Workshop – for this you will get all the glass you need to complete the project and the use of our specialist glass cutting tools and protective glasses. We also provide tea, coffee and yummy biscuits. After the Workshop each finished piece is fired in our kiln and is available during the following week for collection at an agreed time.
The 2024 workshops are already getting booked up so if you are interested please do not delay booking. In the event that you cannot attend a Workshop that you have paid for, we will transfer your payment to a new Workshop of your choice (dependant on space being available). We do keep a waiting list in case of cancellations and you can be added to that list if you wish.
