Glass Fusing Workshops

Picture

In October 2022 the Society decided to spread it’s wings and started to run Glass Fusing workshops.

Two of our Society members, Anne and Noelle devise, set up and run the workshops. They are both experienced at organising and running training sessions.

Initially they started running one workshop a month for six participants, this is our maximum number due to the size of the pottery where we hold the workshops.  But it was soon clear that the workshops were a success and much in demand, so they increased the number of workshops to four per weekend, once a month. We have a lot of people making return visits and some of them have joined the society and enjoy glass fusing every week as part of their Society Membership.

The workshops are held on Saturdays and Sundays between 9.30 – 12.00 and 13.00 – 15.30 and are held in the Society’s pottery behind Springfield House in Stevenage Old Town

You don’t have to be a member of the Society to come along to the workshops – they are open to all over 18.

What to expect and how much does it cost?

We charge £30 for each workshop – for this you will get all the glass you need to complete the project and the use of our specialist glass cutting tools.  After the workshop we fire each piece in our kiln and your glass masterpiece is available to collect approximately two weeks later from Springfield House at a mutually agreed time.  We also provide tea, coffee and yummy biscuits.  The workshops are very friendly and we get very good feedback on how much people have enjoyed their session.

Feedback from workshop participants -  February 2025.
"Excellent couple of hours with a lovely group of people and to have so many ideas. The presentation was very clear and Anne and Noelle both know their craft - very helpful and fun! Would definitely do more workshops."

"I think everything was covered and suited both complete beginners as well as those who have been before."

"The pre-cut glass pieces and the frit made it much easier for me as a beginner".

"I loved it, thank you so much."

The workshops fill up quickly.  We have a waiting list in case of cancellations and you can be added to that list if your chosen workshops is already fully booked.
